Gasland Video of the Week: In New York there are Six Nations Against Fracking

While California faces crazy droughts, coal ash spills into North Carolina’s rivers and dangerous chemicals have poisoned water in West Virginia, the moratorium against toxic hydro-fracking goes into a fourth year in New York state.

Born and raised in Queens my water is still safe to drink. So who’s been fighting against multi-billion dollar gas companies since the beginning?

  6. "THE MOLD" | #FARROCKAWAY 60 DAYS AND COUNTING AFTER #HURRICANESANDY

In the aftermath of the hurricane, volunteers mobilized to provide aid to Rockaway residents. Twelve hundred and fifty one surveys were collected from residents living in Far Rockaways.

In the last two weeks of December, New York Communities for Change organizers called and visited a sample of the initial survey takers to assess the current habitability situation, two months after Hurricane Sandy hit.

The results document a clear failure by the Bloomberg administration to solve several problems of habitability, including electricity, heat, wet sheetrock removal and mold remediation.

A significant number of Rockaway residents have still not returned to their homes. And for those that have been lucky enough to return home, things are still not back to normal.

  9. KILLED BY #NYPD -TAMON ROBINSON’S FAMILY SPEAKS OUT - #JUSTICEFORTAMON #JUSTICEFORTHEMALL

    WHAT HAPPENED TO TAMON ROBINSON?
“Tamon Robinson, 27, was allegedly spotted by NYPD around 5:30 AM on April 12th stealing cobblestones from the Bay View Houses, a public housing complex in.
Robinson, the police reported, ran to his mother’s building after being spotted. The police, two officers on foot and others in a patrol car, then chased him onto the sidewalk to cut off his escape.
Despite reports from two eyewitnesses who saw Robinson cornered and then struck by the car, the police maintain that he ran into the car.
Police at the scene pulled Robinson from under the car, yelling ‘Wake up! Wake up!’ before bouncing him off the hood of the car.”
The NYPD now says it is investigating its officer’s role in Mr. Robinson’s death.
How many Mothers will have to bury their sons before we stand up for Justice?
